Where it is in space

This field is approx 178 x 110 arcminutes - ie ~ 6 x 4 Moon diameters.
LBN 438 lies approx 5 degrees East of 1 Lacertae, the star at the base of the Lacerta asterism.

Remote session using Splashtop control from Ravenshead, UK
Exposures: L: 26  x 20 min + R:G:B 10 x 20 min each

All sub-exposures
-20°C. All images binned 1x1.
Automated remote sessions using Sequence Generator Pro (SGP)

 

  What it is

LBN 438 is the central dusty cloud in this image. It is surrounded by dust and some hydrogen gas which covers a wide area of this part of the Milky Way. This image covers ony fraction (maybe 20%)of the entire area of this gas and dust cloud.
